Sahayog organises consultation on Domestic Violence and Women issues on Women’s Day By Yugabda Correspondent, 11-03-2016, 6:33 PM
Bhubaneswar: On International Women’s Day Sahayog, Bhubaneswar in association with Institute of Human Right Education (IHRE) observed with 100s of WSHGs members, AWWs, ASHAs, PRI members and community women.
Speaking on the Occasion Bijayalaxmi Rautaray, Secretary of Sahayog said, “This year slogan was pledge for parity when women lagging behind men considering everything fate. Consciously or unconsciously they accept violence as their fate. In everyday life they are facing violence from near and dear. So it’s an opportunity to let’s speak the truth which directly or indirectly hurt us emotionally or physically having lasting impact in our self-respect, dignity and whole life.”
“50 percent reservation doesn’t mean we have equal right. In each and every step whatever a woman supposed to do is only for family prestige. No where she is safe. 50% representation in panchayat doesn’t necessarily guarantee they are enjoying the power they are the pseudo leader,” woman Sarapanch (panchayat Head) Nayana Chhual Singh said.
“In a family respecting each other can add value to life,” she added.
Leena Jena, Reena Samantray, Tillottama Jena, Sarojini Sahooand many to her women spoke their real feeling on the issue.
Sarpanch presided the meeting. Regional Coordinator IHRE, Sri Pradipta Nayak facilitate the process of open consultation on domestic violence after a brief discussion the nature, definition and impact of violence in normal life.
Sri Chittaranjan Mishra, Sr. Reporter from Samaj spoke parity should start today with a new hope to speak out for own right and give pace to others. Sri Basant Swain congratulate all participants and appreciate effort of Organizers for their initiative with rural women.
